One of my hobby is that I love to paint, and sketching and maybe experiment with some new ideas to paint. For me painting is relaxing and fun. But honestly there are many things that you can learn about life through painting.   when you paint or sketch. There is no a perfect way, but there is several way to be good at it.

1. Be brave

sometimes whenever you want to paint or sketch, you afraid. Fear of what is it going to be. Be brave, let your hand stroke the brush. This is the first step on  your journey to paint. Like in life, whenever you have a decision to do something, be brave and took the first step to start. taking the first step is halfway journey.

2. Let it flow

Relax, Don’t fight it. Don’t fight for perfection that make you hesitate. there’s no such thing as the right way to use the brush or pencil, do experiment, use as many media that you can. Remember there is no such thing called right and wrong in art. and it also apply when you are doing something in life, there’s no such thing called right or wrong, you just got to do it even it’s not perfect it is okay, continue moving forward to achieve your goals no matter circumstances you faced. If you hesitate for the sake of perfection you will be going nowhere, because in life there’s no such thing called perfection.

3. Mistakes means creativity

Whenever i sketch, i avoided to erase wrong part, instead  from that over colored, paint dripping, or unwanted trace.  I started to think how to elaborate from it and created something new. That’s the beauty of mistakes.

Like in life, people make mistake, but you need to get up and recover your mistake. There’s no turning backward, the only way is to move forward and create something from that mistake to start a brand new journey.

 4. Do it often

Derek Sivers on his speech in TedXJakarta tell the story about the experiment of a pottery teacher in a school did, she divided the class into two, first it is a class that their main task is to create the most beautiful pottery, and the other class their task is to create as many pottery they can. Suprisingly on the end of the semester, student from the class that making as many pottery that they can, are creating the most unique and beautiful potterry compared to the other class

Means that, when you do it often, you will get used to it, you will having more innovation, and you will having a better result. rather than try to think to paint or sketch beautifully, do it often and you will be suprised that you will create a wonderful art

5. Stop when you are ready

the curse of painting or sketching (especially if you are dissapointionist) is to know where you want to stop. Somehow you will be craving for a little detail, here and there. but when you ready, you will know where to stop and enjoy your art. And like in life, whenever you feel that you already reached your pinnacle, stop and look back on what you have done. you will be amazed on how much you grow, how much you achieved, how much the differences from that single step or first brush stroke created something remarkable

so are you ready to stroke your first brush?

These are  the compilations of wisdom that keeps me motivated, keep me curious, keep me be the person who am I today.

‎”My mind rebels at stagnation. Give me problems, give me work, give me the most abstruse cryptogram, or the most intricate analysis, and I am in my own proper atmosphere. I can dispel them with artificial stimulants. But I abhor the dull routine of existence. I crave for mental exaltation.” – Sherlock Holmes

Let’s say, you score your life a hundred (100)? a thousand (1000)? or even I think you can score your life a billion! (1.000.000.000)…. But remember, No matter how many “thousand billion “0″ you want to put in your life score, it won’t have any meaning without “1″… It’s an anology, Dea.. In life, ’0′ is your achievement and ’1′ is the health.. And I care of your ’1′ the most. — Ir. Mawardi (Dad)

Those who dare to fail MISERABLY can achieve GREATLY.. — John F Kennedy

“The only thing that permits us to acquiesce in an erroneous theory is the lack of a better one, analogously, an injustice is tolerable only when it is necessary to avoid an even greater injustice. Being first virtues of human activities, truth and justice are uncompromising.” — John Rawls

I try to wake up early every morning to train myself that I should be the one who command my own body and brain. Not the contrary, or even anybody. – Dea Gendyna

Am I ready for the real life? There’s no such question, actually.. Questioning it defines that you have never been ready.. –Dea Gendyna

When the sun rises and you are still sleeping, looks like the whole day-morning and night-will always be dark for you.. Wake up sleepyhead. –Dea Gendyna

I think it is the endless debate of all in management, would you focus on result or process?

for me I’m a result oriented leader. because in the end the result is the real thing that you can see, measure and then analyze. something that is tangible.

But result is not always about the number. Result is about knowing our capacity to do the right process and give the best quality of our result.

to do that, there are several ways

1. cluster the organization/people based on their performance
why? this will raised the competition between each person, and you can treat them equally and the problem that they faced will be in the same level

2. knowing what each cluster needs to improve their performance
don’t force everyone to move on the same level, but treat them differently and separately knowing what the people really need to improve.

3.  empower the lower cluster, motivate the higher cluster
the result of each cluster will be different in each person, helping the lower cluster to gaining more skills and development will raised them to the same level as the higher cluster, so they can catch up. at the same time keep the competition and motivation high in the higher cluster so they can get more result

4. do it with righr process and knowing the purpose of the procecss
each of person should do it with the right process, not for the sake of the number itself but believe in what the right process. each of person should know the purpose of the process not making the process rigid, innovate!

5. know the reason what is the purpose of the result
every job that we do, we need to know what is the purpose of our job and what is the outcome and purpose behind the number. if each of person know the reason it will increase their motivation and quality of the result

so basically for me yes result is important, but number is not.
result is the outcome for the things that we do, number is only indicator. so don’t force yourself for the number but focus on the result. how is the outcome of your activity affects you and your surrounding. how the outcomes makes you the way you are right now
