Youth Today from AIESEC in Indonesia is back to hold a free interactive webinar for young Indonesians. The theme raised this time is “Digital Era 101: IT & Marketing as the Leading Job Prospects of the Future” with the tagline #LEADigitally held on Sunday, May 2, 2021 via zoom.
This event begins with a speech from Vania Azalia Calista as the Organizing Committee President of Youth Today who has made this event in such a way with the team. In addition, Mely Fauziah as Product Manager of AIESEC in Indonesia and Marketing Specialist Intern at EcoMatcher were present to moderate the three speakers.
In the first session with the topic “Building a Successful Career in Digital Era & Grow Entrepreneurial Mindset”, Bas Fransen as CEO of EcoMatcher shared his experiences when building his startup company and the reasons he chose to become an entrepreneur. Bas shares some of the 5 main trends in this digital era, namely the acceleration of urbanization, the size of global connections, the speed of technological change, the fading of old ways of working, and climate change. Bas shared that there are 4 keys to achieving success in the world of entrepreneurship, namely the purpose of company existence, building a culture of innovation, finding the right partners, monitoring new technological breakthroughs, actively seeking new business models.
In the second session with the topic “Job Prospects and Competitiveness in the Digital Era”, Nindya Paisan as the Talent Acquisition And Employer Branding Lead of PT ALTO Network started the session by explaining the fierce competition experienced by job seekers. However, in the midst of this situation there are some of the most sought after positions, especially in the IT and Marketing fields. In the field of marketing, the most sought-after positions are digital marketing, brand strategist, content creator, social media analyst, and content writer. As for the IT field, the most sought after positions are backend developer, frontend developer, data scientist, mobile developer, full stack engineer, and UI / UX designer. Therefore, Nindya shared 4 things that need to be considered in taking job opportunities, namely career path, work environment, 𝘫𝘰𝘣 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, company stability.
In the third session with the topic “Career hacks and Talent Perspectives for IT and Marketing”, Edwin Djakaria as Director of Stevland Bridge shared 2 categories 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭 which experienced increased needs, namely social & emotional skills and technological skills. Therefore, Edwin emphasized that there are 5 skills that have increased in popularity towards 2025 that young people need to have, namely critical thinking, analysing skill, problem solving, self management, and active learning.
This event did not only end after the third speaker, but the participants were again divided into breakout rooms to find out about the culture and work ethic as well as international internship opportunities from international partners, namely Japan, India, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Therefore, AIESEC in Indonesia provides two kinds of programs. First, 𝘎𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘭 𝘛𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵 is an international apprenticeship program for MNC, start-up, and multinational companies for 6-78 weeks. Second, AIESEC also has a 𝘝𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮 (VPP) program that runs virtually or 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 for 4-12 weeks.
