From Childhood Dreams to Taking Action
Ever since she was a child, Raissa dreamed of becoming a diplomat and had a deep love for learning new languages. During university, she discovered AIESEC in Unpad and was immediately interested when she learned about the Global Volunteer program. After becoming an AIESEC member and learning more about the experience, her decision to volunteer became even more certain.
Choosing Vietnam: Projects, People & Precious Moments
Vietnam became Raissa’s destination of choice, where she joined the Global Classroom Project. Before departing, she received guidance from her EP (Exchange Participant) Manager in AIESEC in Unpad and continued to be supported throughout her journey.
While in Vietnam, she found not only a meaningful role but lasting friendships. She bonded closely with Hannah, an AIESEC local member who welcomed her with open arms and soon became a genuine friend.
One of Raissa’s most memorable experiences was celebrating Christmas Eve with fellow volunteers, preparing gifts for an orphanage and enjoying a rooftop barbecue. Another unforgettable moment was her first ride on a waterbus through Ho Chi Minh City at night, something simple, yet incredibly meaningful for her.
Facing Challenges, Finding Strength
Of course, the journey wasn’t without its challenges. Raissa faced her fair share of challenges, homesickness being the hardest. But with support from Giorgos, a volunteer from Turkey, and love from her family back home, she learned to grow through the discomfort and become more self-reliant.

Back to Home with a New Perspective
After completing her project, Raissa came home with much more than souvenirs, but more like deeply grateful for the experience. She returned with a stronger sense of self, cross-cultural friendships, strronger confidence, and new perspectives — all of which now shape her contributions as a staff member in the International Relations department of AIESEC in Unpad.
“When you feel afraid to step out of your comfort zone, that’s exactly when you should jump. The most unforgettable experiences of your life might be waiting on the other side.” — Raissa shared.
